Ida Elina is an internationally renowned Finnish singer-songwriter, the queen of pop kantele and a pioneer of Finland’s national instrument. With her innovative “slap style” – a percussion technique inspired by YouTube guitarists – she has revolutionized the way we understand kantele music. Helsingin Sanomat wrote that “her pop cover versions have revolutionized the instrument”, while Vorarlberger Nachrichten praised how she “reinvented this traditionally gentle and melancholic instrument and made it equally accessible for both pop and folk music”.
The Seminaarinmäki Male Singers, nicknamed Semmarit, is a male choir founded in 1989 and familiar to many.
The group’s music breaks the boundaries of choral music, with roots in rock and pop. The songs are self-written and created as a collaboration between the entire choir.
Semmarei’s performances are as exceptional as the choir’s music. Each Semmarei concert is a carefully planned combination of lighting, digital visuals and smoke effects, often with humorous storylines and choreography, and of course, music.
